POSITION

OVERVIEW

As an Electrical Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering advanced industrial automation systems. You’ll work hands‑on with PLCs, HMIs, electrical schematics, and full control system integrations, supporting both in‑house testing at our cutting‑edge manufacturing facility and field performance improvements for customers worldwide. WHAT

WILL YOU DO
  • Program and troubleshoot PLC control logic primarily in Ladder Diagram (LAD) and Function Block Diagram (FBD) to support automated manufacturing systems. Familiarity with Structured Control Language (SCL) and Statement List (STL) is a plus. Assist and collaborate in the creation and maintenance of detailed electrical schematics for industrial control enclosures and systems.
  • Troubleshoot automation control issues and enhance system performance at customer sites.
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical design engineers to develop robust automation and control packages for industrial machinery and machine control.
  • Support the creation of project documentation such as risk assessments and user’s manuals.
  • Participate in commissioning activities for new installations and upgrades. (Estimated travel: 2–3 weeks per year, typically in one‑week increments.)
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Experience with electrical control system programming and maintenance, specifically with PLC and HMI brand platforms;
    Siemens and Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell desired. Some legacy platforms include Delta, Mitsubishi, and Citect.
  • Experience with AC and DC motors, including drives.
  • Electrical and control system integration, commissioning, and maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD and ECAD is preferred but not required.
  • Field experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • A collaborative, team‑oriented, and self‑directed approach with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This role includes a mix of office‑based design work, hands‑on lab activities, and periodic shop‑floor or customer‑site visits. Shop floor work typically involves standard industrial conditions. Hazelett provides all required PPE and prioritizes a safe working environment.

The base pay range for this full‑time position is $82,000 – $107,000 . Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. In addition, our ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
