Job SummaryThe Cost Estimating Specialist creates cost estimates for new business proposals, reviews scope and project requirements, analyzes historical data, and works with other functions to receive inputs. Supports proposals through internal approval cycles and customer negotiations, interfacing with internal functions, government agencies, or customers. This position can be located in Colchester, Vermont or Saco, Maine.
Essential Functions- Develop cost estimates for projects based on work scope, specifications, and contract proposals using applicable estimating methodologies and tools.
- Analyze project requirements, plans, and specifications to identify labor, material, equipment, and service requirements.
- Use benchmark data, trends, prior estimates, and historical pricing schedules to generate detailed cost estimates that include itemized lists of expenses, labor hours, material quantities, and potential cost variations.
- Depending on the complexity and type of project, use different estimating methods, mathematical models, or specialized estimating software tools to generate estimates.
- Associate’s Degree and 2‑4 years’ experience (or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance or a related field.
- Knowledge and skills in cost estimation, material requirements planning, project estimation, requirements analysis, advanced spreadsheet use, cost analysis, specification review, construction estimating software, and ERP systems.
- Remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
- Work primarily in a climate‑controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Up to 25% travel likely.
Pay Range (USD)$68,700.00 – $93,000.00
Pay Transparency StatementThe salary range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum for salary for this position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, internal equity, and relevant education or training.
Additional CompensationHired applicants may be eligible to participate in the Company’s Gain Sharing Program.
