The Vermont Department of Health seeks an experienced laboratory scientist to join the radiochemistry team at its public health laboratory in Colchester. The role involves testing environmental samples for radionuclides and other contaminants, conducting quality assurance, and responding to public health emergencies. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a collaborative approach and willingness to help with both routine and complex analytical tasks.
Keyqualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, radiochemistry, or related field, OR Master's degree with 1+ year professional laboratory experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 3+ years professio
- Experience in quantitative, radiochemistry, or instrumental chemistry laboratory work in public health or environmental settings
- Ability to work in laboratory conditions with exposure to harmful fumes and chemicals and operate sophisticated equipment
- Willingness to respond with short notice to public health emergencies and natural disasters
- Valid Vermont operator's license and willingness to travel
