Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (Hospice RN) provides end-of-life nursing care, complex symptom management, and education across home and inpatient hospice settings. The RN supports goals of care discussions with patients, families, and the care team while ensuring safe, accurate medication administration and documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Assess and manage complex hospice symptoms using critical thinking and ongoing reassessment
- Educate patients and caregivers on end-of-life care, comfort measures, and care plans
- Initiate and participate in goals of care discussions with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Administer and manage medications via IV, subcutaneous, oral, sublingual, rectal, and other routes
- Provide central line and specialty device care, including PORT/IVAD, PICC, CADD pumps, and continuous infusions
- Perform end-of-life care tasks including tracheostomy/airway support, palliative sedation support, wound/ostomy/drain care, and rectal tube management
- Hold an active AHA BLS certification
- Possess a minimum of 3 years of prior community hospice experience
- Demonstrate advanced typing and strong proficiency with narrative-heavy EMR documentation
- Demonstrate EPIC experience within the past 2 years
- Exhibit comfort with comprehensive hospice assessments and care planning
- Manage medication administration safely across multiple routes and delivery systems
- Develop advanced hospice competencies in complex symptom management and family-centered education
- Strengthen skills with goal-of-care communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Gain experience across home hospice and inpatient respite settings with structured onboarding
