Veteran Housing Service Coordinator – Northern VT Region
The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is a program that assists very low‑income veteran families who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of homelessness to gain and retain stable housing. The Coordinator will deliver case management and housing navigation services in northern Vermont and Clinton County, NY.
Responsibilities
- Provide case management and housing navigation services to veterans, utilizing the Housing First model, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, and Trauma‑Informed Care.
- Guide low‑income veteran families through the housing stability process, connecting them to resources and providing direct assistance as needed.
- Maintain accurate records in computerized case management applications and explain program details, schedules, and workflow to participants.
- Collaborate with community partners and housing agencies to secure permanent housing opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
- At least two years of applicable experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to use computerized case management applications.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience as a military veteran or working with homeless populations.
- Training, education, or experience with social services support.
- Knowledge of the HUD Homeless Management Information System.
Pay Range $55,000‑65,000
Special Conditions
- Union position (UVMSU).
- External candidates must complete a 4‑month probationary period.
- Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required.
- Travel to and from work sites is required.
- Full‑time telework options available.
