Special Education Assistant – Instructional (Full-time / No Benefits (Temporary))

Hours:
35 hours per week (exact hours to be determined)
Compensation: $18.52 per hour, plus $1.25 per hour if student toileting required.
DescriptionPerform a wide variety of duties in support of student individualized education programs in both special (Life Skills) and regular education settings as directed and supervised by a professional staff member. Must work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, and communicate effectively orally and in writing. All other duties as assigned. Utilize crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP.
Training will be provided via CBSD.
- Support student individualized education programs in special and regular education settings.
- Work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively.
- Utilize crisis prevention techniques, including restraint as a last resort, under CBSD training.
- Assist with student toileting when required.
- Minimum 2 years college coursework or Associate Degree preferred.
- High School Diploma, Transcripts or GED equivalent required at time of hire.
- Ability to work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, communicate effectively with students and adults, and be a positive role model.
- Ability to work in a school setting for extended periods, including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Some assignments may require lifting more than 50 lbs. while assisting students with personal care or restraint.
