Full-time, hourly position
Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 5:00 am – 3:30 pm;
Friday: 5:00 am – 11:00 am; overtime as needed

Job SummaryThe Hand Polisher 2 is responsible for applying a polished surface to a wide variety of complex stone work using a variety of hand tools.
What You’ll Be Doing- Interpret production tickets to ensure the stone meets quality and order specifications
- Operate overhead crane and hydraulic lift table to move and turn stone as necessary
- Layout stone using patterns and a tape measure according to the production ticket to ensure the correct profiles, angles and drill holes have been applied
- Drill holes in stone with a 30‑pound hammer drill or handheld core drill machine
- Use chalk to clearly mark all edges of the stone and identify where grinding and polishing needs to be completed
- Shape the edges of the stone by blunting or rounding them with an 8‑pound angle grinder
- Grind and polish a wide variety of complex stone with rounded edges, molding and more detailed shapes using a 21‑pound hand tool for a large portion of the day
- Polish the edges and flat areas of the stone with a 12‑pound buffer while simultaneously applying a buffing compound
- Apply knowledge of the various polishing and grinding tools and pads to ensure correct equipment is used to prevent damage to the stone
- Use a handheld torch to apply a thermal finish to stone when required
- Apply acquired knowledge of unique stone characteristics and associated process requirements to achieve a proper polish
- Clean stone with chemical cleaning agent and brush at various points of the process
- Inspect stone when finished to ensure work has been completed according to production ticket
- Good hand‑eye coordination
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production
- Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision
- Excellent problem solving and critical‑thinking skills, with an emphasis in time management, improving efficiencies and exercising independent judgment to determine work priority and urgency
- Mechanically inclined
- General math skills
- Ability to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings
- Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric
- Work as a self‑motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross‑train as needed
