QC Lab Technician - Nights

Join a dynamic team as a QC Lab Technician, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of products through rigorous testing and analysis. This position offers a balanced mix of laboratory and production floor responsibilities, providing valuable experience in both microbiological and chemical analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform microbiological analysis of products, water, and environment to support sanitation and HACCP programs for food safety.
  • Collect and test samples for products, including energy drinks and various water samples, ensuring the validity of each test.
  • Conduct analytical testing on energy drinks and related products, including CO2, air, volume, crimp, torque, pH, brix, flavor, and seam checks.
  • Analyze titratable acidity and perform HPLC analysis for caffeine and preservative levels.
  • Conduct TOA assessments of finished products, evaluating taste, odor, and appearance.
  • Ensure the accuracy and calibration of all measuring devices.
  • Document and record results from product analysis accurately.
  • Fill out batching sheets accurately and ensure specifications are met.
  • Review ingredient labels, specifications, and regulatory documents to validate batching and recipes.
  • Communicate with production and sanitation teams to support QA functions.
  • Pull finished goods samples from production for analytical and customer testing.
  • Review labels and documents for the release of finished products.
  • Perform a QA line check every four hours to ensure adherence to food safety standards and equipment calibration.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in wet chemistry and aseptic techniques.
  • Quality control and documentation skills.
  • Experience with manufacturing line audits and laboratory operations.
  • Background in biology and chemistry.
  • Proficiency in QC checks and line inspections.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in food quality or an AA/BA/BS in a scientific discipline.
  • Strong data and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Environment

Work in a contract mixing and bottling manufacturing setting, which includes a full brewery operation. The role operates on a rotating schedule from 5:45 PM to 6:00 AM, typically involving two days on, two days off, and a rotating three-day weekend. The work environment is split evenly between lab and floor functions, offering a well-rounded experience in both micro and chemistry domains.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cold Spring, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
