The Branch Area Careers Center (BACC) is located in Coldwater, Michigan, and provides career and technical education opportunities to over 500 students per year. The BACC works closely with community and business partners to provide career and college readiness opportunities for secondary students and to provide a workforce for continued economic growth in Branch County.

Requirements
  • Education and/or certification:
    • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with CTE certification for Environmental and Agricultural Science or must meet qualifications for Annual Career Authorization.
  • Experience:
    • 3 years of ag science teaching experience preferred.
    • 4000 hours of recent and relevant work experience if ACA (Annual Career Authorization) is required.
    • Experience with the FFA activities, conventions, and competitions.
Duties
  • Enforce safety rules and regulations.
  • Keep the class/office area clean, orderly, and supplied.
  • Create daily lesson plans that follow BACC curriculum and state approved instruction design.
  • Work cooperatively with other members of the AFNR Department to revise the budget and inventory list each school year.
  • Utilize community resources to plan field trips and coordinate guest speakers.
  • Oversee SAE projects for all students.
  • Work cooperatively to maintain an active BACC FFA Chapter.
  • Follow the guidelines for OJT and work experience students. Assist coordinator with job placement of students.
  • Maintain a recruitment/publicity program.
  • Coordinate with the Farm Manager in planning and operation of the land lab.
  • Attend quarterly AFNR meetings with administration.
  • Test all students for competencies on an annual basis.
  • Maintain an active Advisory Committee.
  • Maintain program equipment and manage the greenhouses and arboretum areas.
  • Assist with the implementation of students' individualized education and health care plans.
  • Supplemental 30-days to include:
    • Regional Update January (Friday)
    • Green & White Hog Show January (Saturday)
    • Farmer's Day February
    • Horse Evaluation Contest April (Saturday)
    • Fair Weigh-in March/April (Saturday)
    • Agri‑science Research Project setup and completion June
    • Summer Ag. Teachers PDI June or July
    • Dairy Judging/Showmanship July
    • Livestock Evaluation July
    • Officer Training Camp June or July
    • SLCCO/SLCRO July
    • Student SAE monitoring June, July, August
    • Student Livestock Showmanship Clinics June, July, August
    • Branch County Fair August (9 days) includes 2 weekends
    • National CDE Team Preparation June, July, August
  • Other duties as assigned.
