Project Engineer; Battery Energy Storage Systems

Barton Malow is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team supporting a battery energy storage system facility in Coldwater, MI. The role involves planning, developing, coordinating, supervising, and monitoring onsite construction engineering. The Project Engineer will act as a liaison with architects, engineers, and owners regarding project progress and changes, ensuring clear communication and seamless project execution, supervising electrical crews, and ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient project execution.

This is a traveling position that requires working onsite full-time at project locations. Candidates must be willing and able to travel extensively and be physically present on the jobsite for the duration of assigned projects.

• Provide technical support for resolution and tracking of project issues.
• Manage all project document control.
• Process submittals and RFIs.
• Support procurement in the distribution of bidding documents and tracking of bidders.
• Maintain project schedule.
• Prepare and issue meeting minutes.
• Assist with planning and managing site logistics.
• Enforce corporate safety policies on the jobsite.
• Receive and review/evaluate contractor quotations for changes and process change orders.
• Manage plan review and approval process with local and state municipalities.

• 4-year engineering, construction management, or related degree.
• 2‑3 years of relevant professional experience or related construction internship experience.
• Prior automotive experience preferred.
• OSHA 30‑Hour certification preferred.
• Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and ability to be self‑directed in problem‑solving.
• Proactive attitude with commitment to safety.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required by project needs.
• Must be willing to travel and work onsite full‑time at project locations.
