Branch ISD operates Branch Area Careers Center, Special Education, Adult Education, Head Start, Early Head Start, Great Start School Readiness, Early On and the Family Success Program to three constituent school districts and one public school academy. Our mission is to ensure life‑long learning opportunities to students and citizens in our constituent districts. We will provide leadership in cooperation with other local, regional, and state educational service agencies, as well as the private sector, to facilitate the effective and efficient delivery of high quality programs and services.
This is a Part Time position.
- Education and/or certification:
- High school graduate
- Experience:
- 1 year experience in custodial, maintenance, or grounds work
- 2 years satisfactory work experience beyond high school
- Other skills:
- Good physical health, unrestricted use of hands and feet, good eyesight and hearing (corrected) as needed
- Ability to work variable hours and shifts, as assigned
- Ability to plan work for self and others
- Ability to operate tractors, snowblowers, and other power equipment
- Ability to read and understand written instructions
- Perform routine work, repair, or service tasks such as:
- Lawn mowing
- Landscaping (flowers, shrubbery, trees)
- Blacktop/concrete, curbing, traffic/building signs, security fences, playground equipment
- Fuel storage tanks, piping, pumps, gravel drives, parking lots
- Maintain grounds, including playgrounds and equipment, to state and local standards.
- Assist in preparing BISD buildings in early morning as requested by administration or custodial/maintenance staff.
- Assist with inside work during inclement weather as required by the Maintenance Team.
- Upgrade skills by attending technical classes, as directed.
- Perform safety inspections of yard and ground areas.
- Make arrangements for contracted services, such as snow removal and blacktop/concrete maintenance.
- Communicate equipment and supply requirements to the immediate supervisor for long‑range planning.
- Keep records of maintenance activities.
- Obtain and maintain a forklift operator license and a registered pesticide applicator certificate.
- Other specific duties as assigned:
- Operate hand/power equipment
- Perform snow removal and salting
- Conduct light, daily maintenance on yard and ground equipment
- Woodworking – build or repair wooden items
- Maintain proper chemical treatment of water for boiler and chiller systems at the Branch Area Careers Center.
- Perform emergency building custodial work, as per supervisor’s request.
- Cover Shipping/Receiving Department during clerk’s absence when possible.
