Position Title
APP Medical Oncology/Hematology - Coldwater, MI
LocationColdwater, Michigan (BBC Bronson)
Position Highlights- Practice in the Medical Oncology & Hematology clinic in Coldwater, MI
- Collaborative relationship with patients, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology/Hematology teams, and other internal/external clinicians and support staff
- Work alongside a physician and other clinical staff such as nurse navigation, survivorship, social work, nutritional support, and palliative care
- Hospital‑employed outpatient only position, Monday‑Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- No on‑call required outside of normal clinic hours
- Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current unrestricted or pending licensure in the state of Michigan
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient‑centered care
Perform comprehensive and problem‑focused histories and physical examinations, interpret laboratory and radiologic tests, formulate a diagnosis, and develop treatment plans within the scope of practice in outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Maintain licensure as a Physician Assistant and state DEA license to prescribe medications
- Maintain current prescriptive authority and collaborative agreement with oversight physician(s)
- Fulfill all requirements for medical staff privileges
- Utilize word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs, and other relevant software
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, utilizing SBAR technique
- Communicate daily and simultaneously with internal customers (physicians, multidisciplinary team, finance, management) and external customers (patients, third‑party payers, community agencies)
- Operate with sustained attention on a personal computer or CRT for 40–70% of work time, managing tasks that involve mental/visual fatigue and small detailed work
- Perform activities involving regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and lifting of light objects
- Coordinate clinical management with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate patient progress, discharge, or transfer
- Act as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team, assertively coordinating among team members
- Identify common patient complications and implement appropriate preventative measures
- Assist in developing and integrating quality measures and evidence into clinical practice
- Conduct utilization review: assess patient needs for higher intensity of service and determine transfer to hospital if required, applying regulatory and third‑party payer criteria and facilitating timely discharges/transfers
- Evaluate labs, EKGs, imaging studies, and document findings to support billing, medical care, orders, and progress notes
- Provide support for nursing questions and evaluate patient status changes
Full‑time, 40 hours per week, first shift
