Overview
Employees in this position transport offenders of all security classifications to various locations within and outside the state, overseeing custody, security, and treatment during transport. The role requires independent operation without supervisory direction, with discretion and judgment in critical, complex, and potentially violent situations.

- Oversee and participate in the custody, security, and treatment of offenders during transport.
- Work independently without supervisory direction, exercising discretion and independent judgment in critical, complex, and potentially violent situations.
- Completion of 15 semester (23 term) college credits in any field.
- Two years of experience equivalent to a Corrections Officer or a Corrections Medical Aide, including at least one year equivalent to a Corrections Officer 9 or Corrections Medical Aide 9.
- Positions subject to pre‑appointment and random‑selection drug and alcohol testing.
- Applicants with felony convictions in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017 may be screened out. Misdemeanor or felony convictions require satisfactory completion of any sentence including parole or probation.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Compliance with grooming standards for Corrections Transportation Officers.
- Successful completion of 24 hours of transportation training.
- Physical fitness standards, annual re‑certification, and training.
- Some positions may require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger rating and possibly air brake endorsement.
- Qualification in the use of chemical gas agents.
- Certification in the operation of firearms and ability to secure a concealed weapons permit.
- May require an ambulance operator license.
