Responsibilities
The Building Trades Crew Leader is responsible for new building construction and remodeling projects. This includes requisitioning equipment, materials, and supplies, maintaining and upkeeping buildings and grounds, planning and overseeing projects to ensure conformity to specifications and codes, maintaining records and preparing work reports, coordinating duties and responsibilities with other trade workers, assisting in training other trade workers when needed, and maintaining open communication with trade workers and management in a professional manner.
The role also serves as an advanced crew leader, overseeing the work of prisoners.
This is a drug and alcohol test designated position.
EducationEducational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
ExperienceFive years of experience in a skilled trade, including one year of experience equivalent to the E9-level in state service.
Special Requirements , Licenses, and CertificationsThe Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
BenefitsThis position is eligible for $0.40/hour pay premium.
