Second Grade Teacher

Position: 2nd grade teacher at Colebrook Elementary. Starting date:
Sep 1, 2026. Job . Posted until filled. Position type:
Full-time. School: SAU 7 Colebrook Elementary School, Colebrook, New Hampshire.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Required
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement plans for an age‑appropriate curriculum with written evidence of preparation.
  • Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter; integrate technology into lessons.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, and discovery.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instruction time.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
  • Identify student needs, communicate, and cooperate with other professional staff members to assist students in solving health, attitude, and learning problems.
  • Create an effective learning environment through functional displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities.
  • Participate in cooperation with appropriate administrators to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines.
  • Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
  • Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
  • Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual student needs.
  • Assess student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
  • Use technologies in the teaching/learning process.
Job Requirements
  • At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
