Second Grade Teacher
Position: 2nd grade teacher at Colebrook Elementary. Starting date:

- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Develop and implement plans for an age‑appropriate curriculum with written evidence of preparation.
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter; integrate technology into lessons.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials; provide individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to each student’s needs.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, and discovery.
- Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instruction time.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth; keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
- Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
- Identify student needs, communicate, and cooperate with other professional staff members to assist students in solving health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Create an effective learning environment through functional displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
- Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities.
- Participate in cooperation with appropriate administrators to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines.
- Select and requisition books and instructional aids; maintain required inventory records.
- Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities during the school day.
- Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual student needs.
- Assess student learning styles and use results for instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
- Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to state requirements.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers.
- Use technologies in the teaching/learning process.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
