MPA Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Storeperson to join a busy hospital catering department.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:00pm

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties within the hospital catering department, including:

  • Unpacking incoming food, catering and kitchen supply orders.
  • Checking deliveries and reporting any damaged or missing items.
  • Storing food and supplies correctly and safely.
  • Rotating stock and checking use-by dates.
  • Packing orders away and keeping storage areas clean, tidy and organised.
  • Preparing catering supplies and equipment for daily service.
  • Taking food and catering orders from hospital wards.
  • Checking orders carefully to ensure they are accurate.
  • Picking and preparing ward orders for delivery.
  • Delivering food, beverages and catering supplies to the relevant hospital wards.
  • Collecting trays, equipment and catering items from wards when required.
  • Assisting with the preparation and distribution of meals and refreshments.
  • Ensuring food is handled, stored and transported in accordance with food hygiene procedures.
  • Cleaning and sanitising work areas, equipment and food preparation areas.
  • Washing and putting away catering equipment and utensils.
  • Assisting with general kitchen duties when required.
  • Following hospital procedures relating to food hygiene, infection control, health and safety and manual handling.
  • Wearing the appropriate uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Reporting any issues, damaged equipment, spillages or food safety concerns to the relevant supervisor.
  • Working closely with catering staff, hospital ward staff and other departments.
  • Providing a polite and helpful service to hospital staff and patients when required.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties required by the Catering Manager or Supervisor.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Friendly and approachable.
  • Organised and able to prioritise tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a busy hospital environment.
  • Physically able to stand, walk and move catering supplies throughout the working day.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Able to follow instructions and hospital procedures.
  • Health and safety conscious.
  • Comfortable handling food and working in a catering environment.
  • Previous experience in catering, hospitality, healthcare, warehousing or a similar environment would be beneficial, although
    full training may be provided
