Overview
The City of College Park is seeking an experienced Administrative Specialist to perform a variety of administrative and office support functions for the Department of Public Services. This position requires frequent interaction with residents, contractors, internal staff, and publicly elected officials at the City, County, and State levels.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, experience as a permit technician, and familiarity with construction-related technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Intake, review, and processing of permit applications
- Recordkeeping, data entry, scanning, and filing of departmental documents
- Preparation and distribution of correspondence and reports
- Providing excellent customer service to the public and internal stakeholders
- Assisting department staff with court documents and trial preparation
- Performing other administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Associate degree in business administration, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible administrative experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of administrative support experience in an office environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience performing data entry, recordkeeping, and document management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional customer service interaction
- Experience working as a permit technician or in a permitting, planning, public works, or code enforcement environment
- Experience using municipal or enterprise systems such as Accela, GoGov, and Tyler Technologies
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish
- Prior experience working in a municipal or government setting
The starting hourly pay range for this position is $29.41- $30.14, depending on qualifications. The City offers a generous benefits package, including Maryland State Retirement.
