This is a full-time tenure-track position in water resources engineering at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor level; however, appointments at other academic ranks may be considered based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate in this position can integrate the physical and practical fundamentals of water resources engineering with emerging artificial intelligence and sensing technologies.

The successful candidate will particularly be interested in working to improve the access of all people to safe and reliable water systems, enhance sustainability and community resilience to water-driven hazards, and increase health, food, and economic security.
Preferences:
Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in (a) one or more foundational areas within water resources engineering, such as hydrology, hydraulics, coastal applications, environmental fluid mechanics, urban hydrology, stormwater management, water supply and distribution, and ecosystem/stream/river restoration, and (b) one or more advanced technologies, such as physics-informed AI, explainable AI, data science, machine learning, deep learning, and remote and/or in situ sensing systems.
Earned a PhD in water resources engineering or a closely related field.
Demonstrate ability to develop a vigorous, independent, externally funded research program and maintain a strong publication record.
Demonstrate the ability to teach water resources classes effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Committed to and engaged in promoting workforce development and inclusive excellence in the field through research and teaching, including impact, outreach, and sharing of knowledge within and beyond CEE.
Physical Demands:
The ability to perform the essential functions of a faculty appointment.#
