MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Master Machinist to join our team in College Park, Maryland. The position is part of a team that provides Machinist support for an organization that is tasked with researching challenging problems within the Intelligence Community.
The candidate will be working with a small team to provide full range support in the fabrication of equipment and other assemblies and provide other model shop services to advance research projects at the LPS.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Manage and oversee shop resources
* Fabricate equipment and assemblies required to advance research at the LPS
* Design, build, and maintain ultra-high vacuum systems
* Design, fabricate, and maintain specialized laboratory equipment such as optical instruments, specialized microelectronic manufacturing equipment, x rays, and, build and install advanced piping for toxic gas systems.
* Perform engineering calculations, perform Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), drafts project specifications, prepares technical reports, prepares design estimates and manages configuration control.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
* 10+ years of experience conceptualizing, designing, and building apparatus for scientific research, to include programming and operation of CNC machines.
* Welding and wood courseware completion and working experience.
* Completed apprentice machinist courses
* Implementable advice on a range of projects involving fabrication of conducting polymer RF structures; design and fabrication of mechanical structures using design software.
* Coordinates with other technical personnel in solving technical problems, fabricating equipment, gathering information, formulating plans, designs, cost estimates and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Researches, designs, evaluates, installs, operates, and maintains mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. May work with other engineering staff in the design and development of electro-mechanical devices and components.

Physical Requirements:
* Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time
* Run the necessary machinery in support of the job.
* Lift minor items of 50 lbs or less.
The projected compensation range for this position is $-$. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
