The

A. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) within the Clark School ranks in the top 20 public civil engineering programs in the country. This is a full-time tenure-track position in water resources engineering at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor level; however, appointments at other academic ranks may be considered based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful candidate can integrate the physical and practical fundamentals of water resources engineering with emerging artificial intelligence and sensing technologies, with a focus on improving access to safe and reliable water systems, enhancing sustainability and community resilience to water-driven hazards, and increasing health, food, and economic security.

Preferences:

  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge in one or more foundational areas within water resources engineering (e.g., hydrology, hydraulics, coastal applications, environmental fluid mechanics, urban hydrology, stormwater management, water supply and distribution, ecosystem/stream/river restoration) and one or more advanced technologies (e.g., physics-informed AI, explainable AI, data science, machine learning, deep learning, sensing systems).
  • Earned a PhD in water resources engineering or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop a vigorous, independent, externally funded research program and maintain a strong publication record.
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach water resources classes effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Commitment to and engagement in promoting workforce development and inclusive excellence in the field through research and teaching, including impact, outreach, and sharing of knowledge within and beyond CEE.

Physical Demands:
The ability to perform the essential functions of a faculty appointment.
