Job Overview
BHE GT&S has an exciting career opportunity for a Lead LNG Technician (Plant Control Systems) located at our Cove Point facility in Lusby, MD.
Qualifications- Seven (7) years' experience in an industrial setting in process/product chemical engineering or operations, depending on type of experience.
- Mastery of the subject matter, or diversified knowledge of principles and practice in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- Knowledge of power generation, liquid natural gas process operations, hydrocarbon process operations, or chemical process operations, gained through considerable, related work experience.
- Broad knowledge of pipeline operations, engineering practices, and regulatory compliance.
- Applied knowledge of automated control instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, thermocouples, regulators, and other industrial components.
- Full competency in performing Distributed Controls System (DCS) or Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) changes in logic, graphics, control loop configuration and network configuration.
- Previous work experience demonstrating technical knowledge of Emerson DeltaV, ABB Infi-90, Allen Bradley and/or other industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and the associated control and data acquisition systems.
- Ability to provide guidance and/or training to Technicians and Operators.
- Competent in personal computer software and hardware troubleshooting and repair.
- Strong computer skills with a knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
- Strong analytical and deductive reasoning, oral and written communication, technical writing, and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve DCS hardware and process control problems.
- Ability to maintain documentation related to the DCS and instrumentation.
- Full ability to conduct site inspections or walk downs, including working at heights.
- Experience in commissioning medium-to-large-scale industrial control installations.
- Ability to effectively communicate expectations and operational concerns, and to interact with a variety of individuals within multiple levels of the organization.
- Thorough knowledge of company safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements that support federal, state, and local laws.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities.
- Demonstrated, strong teamwork skills to include leadership, conflict resolution, and decision making.
- Ability to handle constantly changing and emerging priorities.
- Ability to utilize a personal computer and the associated programs, systems, and databases.
- Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues, and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Perform all activities with emphasis on a proactive and preventative maintenance approach based on industry’s best practices, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements to include but not limited to: FERC, PHMSA, NFPA, USCG, DOT, MDOL, MDE and EPA.
- Recognizes the safety, environmental and facility reliability consequences of actions taken maintaining the highest levels of safety and environmental compliance.
- Lead, coordinate, and execute DCS activities under the direction of the Supervisor-LNG Operations (Plant Controls System).
- Work closely with and directly support the facility’s operations teams, providing control system technical expertise to ensure the plant control systems meet operational needs.
- Respond to control system issues affecting facility operations, assisting with start-ups, shutdowns, and abnormal operating conditions, and implementing improvements that enhance operational reliability and performance.
- Work on complex control and network systems, including troubleshooting and repairing system issues, performing detailed diagnostics, and replacing or upgrading components as required.
- Perform control loop logic modifications, testing, tuning, and validation across DCS, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and PLC‑based subsystems by analyzing process response, optimizing control parameters, and verifying system performance.
