Part Time Floorman Schedule M-F 6pm - 10pm

Job Summary

EMCOR Government Services is seeking a part-time Floorman at our National Archives and Records Administration (NARA II) project, Monday – Friday 6:00pm – 10:00pm in College Park, Md. (NARA II), or other shifts as assigned. This is a SEIU, Local 32BJ-represented position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing and buffing the floor surfaces of commercial buildings.
  • Perform floor maintenance/care activities on various floor surfaces such as terrazzo, marble, granite, tile, other hard surfaces, hardwood, and carpet.
  • Performing cleaning tasks and special projects.
  • Cleaning, maintaining, and storing equipment and PPE proficiently.
  • Keeping an inventory of floor areas, and scheduling cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Measuring chemicals correctly.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Follow proper cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Notify supervisor of any maintenance or repair needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in facilities maintenance or commercial cleaning preferred.
  • Proven working experience as a janitor or floor technician (2 yr experience).
  • Follow all health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with SDS.
  • Ability to handle equipment and machinery.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents in English.
  • Must be able to communicate with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • Must be able to work Monday thru Friday 6:00pm – 10:00pm or other shifts as assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects including moving furniture before and after cleaning, if required.
  • Standing or walking for extended periods; use of hands; reaching; depth perception and other vision requirements as described.
  • Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle.
  • All of these requirements are necessary for using ladders and stairs, cleaning low areas, high areas, benches, and corners.
  • Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds to clean work areas and handle supplies and equipment.
  • Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Range: $22.44 / hr.
