Position Summary:
We are seeking a Grant Writer to independently manage client accounts and produce high-quality, competitive applications. Working in partnership with clients, stakeholders, and other grant team members, you will provide ongoing support to health centers, hospitals, and other nonprofits in seeking and securing funding to advance our mission of creating healthier communities.
- Successful completion of the Grant Writers for Health "Academy", our role-based grant writing training program that teaches our strategy, focus, and way of writing award-winning grants.
- Eager to learn and use Grant Writers for Health tools and systems, including Asana, Instrumentl, Dropbox, Loom, and Zoom.
- For three to four clients you manage, research grant opportunities, develop monthly agendas, and attend monthly meetings with clients to create a proactive grant application calendar.
- Lead and write up to three foundation, corporate, local, or government pre‑award grant proposals per month (roughly 20‑30 per year), which includes narrative drafting and editing, budget development, attachment completion, and timely proposal submission.
- Craft well‑written, stylistic, and compelling proposals adhering to specific grant guidelines.
- Tailor the narrative to appeal to reviewers based on insight gained from previously awarded applications.
- Excited to grow your grant writing skills through our training and feedback.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them design grant programs aligned with their goals and available funding.
- Act as a liaison between clients, GWFH, and stakeholders, including external reviewers and evaluators.
- Provide clients with technical support for grant‑related databases and submission portals, fostering strong partnerships and positive outcomes.
- Contribute to our Learning Lab by creating educational content such as blog posts, videos, and social media resources on grant writing.
- Within commuting distance, represent GWFH at healthcare conferences, networking events, and relevant trainings.
Salary Range: $55,000 based on a 40‑hour work week. Hybrid (2 days a week in office), Remote up to 3 days a week, Flexible Hours, Monday through Friday between 9 am and 6 pm Eastern.

- Currently reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Prince George's County, Maryland.
- Possess and be able to demonstrate strong technical writing and grantsmanship skills.
- A bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Non‑Profit Management, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in the healthcare or public health sector.
- At least two (2) years of experience in writing pre‑award grant applications at a nonprofit, public entity, school, or agency.
- Proven success in securing grants in the healthcare, public health, human services, or health equity sectors.
- Proven ability to work effectively and lead in a remote, asynchronous team environment.
- Certifications such as GPC, CGMS, or CFRE are a plus.
- Must live in Maryland.
