Job Summary

As a Senior Quality Assurance Technician, you will be joining a dynamic team performing cutting edge research across multiple disciplines. Operating in a collaborative environment, you will provide invaluable support to a large government contract. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will ensure laboratory activities are performed in compliance with the Quality Program and other applicable quality standards and procedures. You will also support audits, corrective and preventive action (CAPA) investigations, document control, and review of daily reports and other program records to verify completeness, accuracy, and traceability.

The role also includes performing trend analyses, identifying areas for process improvement, and helping maintain the integrity of laboratory operations and reporting.

This full-time position is contingent upon contract award and will be in Washington DC.

Responsibilities
  • Support execution of laboratory experiments rooted in biological sciences and chemistry.
  • Independently perform quality control reviews of routine experiments in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and/or work instructions with guidance from senior quality control management
  • Assure lab equipment is maintained, validated and calibrated include pipetting devices, balances, pH meters, microscopes, centrifuges, plate readers, etc.
  • Document quality control reviews clearly and consistently. Perform technical and quality control review of routine experimental data
  • Perform trend analysis and suggest process improvements that are beneficial to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of laboratory operations.
  • Communicate findings with senior scientists and quality control management.
  • Assure maintenance of laboratory equipment and facilities records are maintained to standards of the laboratory structured quality frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001:2015 or 21 CFR Part 58 GLP)
  • Follow established safety and security guidelines
  • Some domestic travel is possible but not anticipated.
Key Qualifications
  • High School diploma with a minimum of 3 years in life sciences or chemistry with experience working as a quality assurance professional
  • Professional experience performing routine analysis of biological or chemical samples.
  • Experience in quality assurance work including reviewing data, protocols and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to work in biological safety level 2 (BSL-2) laboratories
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand written laboratory procedures and perform quality control reviews of processes and data
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 25 pounds, and work in the proximity of hazardous/infectious materials
  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001:2015, ISO
    17025, or 21 CFR Part 58 GLP)
  • Interest and ability to learn and apply new skills in multiple subject areas
  • Current or previously held security clearance
Salary Range

Battelle is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The hourly range for this role is $22.50 - $30.95 per hour, in addition to our comprehensive benefits package. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, skills, and certifications. Salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and market conditions.
