Research Scientist
The LQCPost-Baccalaureate Fellowship is a full-time, paid research opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands‑on experience in quantum information science and technology (QIST) at LQC’s state‑of‑the‑art facilities. Administered through the Quantum Collaborative Research Corp (QCoR), the program provides the fellows with opportunities to work alongside LQC scientists on real‑world quantum computing projects and to develop technical expertise and professional skills that prepare them for graduate school or careers in the quantum workforce.
Example research areas include:
- Fabrication of solid‑state quantum devices;
- Characterization and analysis of qubits and quantum gate operations;
- Research on superconducting and spin‑based qubits;
- Materials development, including growth and characterization of thin films materials for quantum circuits such as Josephson junctions.
U.S. citizens within three years of graduation who hold a B.S. or M.S. degree (or equivalent) in physics, engineering, computer science, or related fields.
Compensation and Benefits- $55,000 annual salary;
- Comprehensive UMD benefits package, including health insurance and retirement account.
