Position Overview:
As a Staff Engineer, you will:
- Focus on a few key areas and provide leadership to the engineering teams.
- Own complete solutions across their entire life cycle.
- Design and implement messaging and UI applications using the Java platform and open‑source frameworks.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to define overall system architecture, ensuring scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
- Act as a technical and thought leader for domains such as Messaging, GraphQL API, or data streaming.
- Influence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise‑class business applications.
- Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions.
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions to track system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, SQL, and No
SQL databases, container orchestration services (including Docker and Kubernetes), and a variety of Azure tools and services. - Mentor junior team members and consistently share best practices to improve processes within and across teams.
- Fluency and specialization with modern languages such as Java, including object‑oriented design.
- Experience creating micro‑services oriented architectures and extensible APIs.
- Experience designing and implementing architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling for new and existing systems.
- Experience containerizing applications using Docker or Kubernetes (AKS preferred).
- Experience designing performance tests with tools such as JMeter or Load Runner.
- Familiarity with continuous delivery, infrastructure as code, and Power Shell scripting.
- Understanding of monitoring portals such as Splunk or Application Insights.
- Knowledge of security protocols and products including Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth.
- Strong familiarity with GraphQL web services.
- Passion for documentation and mentoring junior developers.
- Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Gradle, and Artifactory.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and hands‑on experience with real‑time event streaming platforms such as Apache Kafka.
- Familiarity with No
SQL and graph databases. - Experience writing unit tests using common testing frameworks and contributing to code quality.
- Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment.
- Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real‑time communication).
- Minimum 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in architecture and design.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.
