Senior Administrative Coordinator I

Job SummaryTexas A&M Geography Department seeks an experienced administrative professional to support the Department Head, coordinate departmental operations, faculty processes, and oversee administrative staff.
Responsibilities- Direct departmental administrative operations, establishing strategic objectives and managing workflow.
- Develop and implement administrative policies and process improvements.
- Serve as primary executive support to the Department Head, managing priorities and ensuring compliance.
- Handle sensitive personnel, review, and administrative records.
- Prepare, analyze, and compile reports to support decision‑making.
- Oversee academic scheduling and classroom coordination.
- Manage facilities, space allocation, and key control.
- Facilitate communication between leadership and support units (HR, Business Services, IT).
- Plan logistics for meetings, travel, events, and special projects.
- Coordinate faculty recruitment, hiring, promotion, and tenure processes.
- Support international faculty and research staff immigration and appointment processes.
- Oversee faculty workload reporting and graduate milestones.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate administrative staff and student employees.
- Approve employee leave requests and act as the Department Head's delegate in Workday and Concur.
- Provide backup front‑office support for room scheduling and equipment checkout.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience.
- At least six years of office administration experience.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, and maintain a positive work environment.
- Experience with TAMU systems such as Interfolio, Docu Sign, VP Faculty Affairs.
- Familiarity with TAMU Registrar policies and procedures.
Compensation commensurate based on education and experience.
