The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution, College of Engineering at Texas A&M University invites applications for one tenured or tenure‑track faculty position in the Industrial Distribution Program at the assistant or associate professor levels starting in Fall 2026. The Industrial Distribution Program is a nationally recognized program that focuses on applying engineering technology, business, mathematics, science, data processing, communications, quality, and supply‑chain management to the wholesaling and distribution of industrial and technological products.

Starting in Fall 2026, the position is available at the assistant or associate professor level, either tenured or tenure‑track.

Selection Preferences

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant hands‑on research and experience aligned with industrial distribution, including operations management, data analytics, optimization, supply chain and logistics, digital distribution, and operations research. Leveraging the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large language models for advancing these core research areas will also be favorably considered.

About the Department

The Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is unique among the 15 departments within the College of Engineering due to its strong focus on applied research and undergraduate education. The department consists of four distinct undergraduate programs and three graduate programs – two distance‑education and one resident graduate program. It currently has 112 faculty members, including 36 tenured/tenure‑track and 76 non‑tenure‑track faculty, supporting academic programs in electronic systems engineering technology, multidisciplinary engineering technology, manufacturing and mechanical engineering technology, information management service management, and industrial distribution.

Enrollment is over 2,700 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students. Faculty also support approximately $14 million annually in applied and basic research and professional development efforts spanning embedded systems, communications, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor testing, intelligent product design and development, information technology management, human‑computer interaction, sales management, distribution operations and supply‑chain management, and educational research.

Eligibility

Applicants must have earned a doctorate in industrial engineering, supply chain management, management science, decision sciences, operations research, systems engineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants must have at least one degree in engineering. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience working in the industry is preferred.
