The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) at Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of tenured Professor and Head of the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology (VTPP) ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). The successful candidate will undergo tenure review upon hire at the rank of Professor based on their career accomplishments and continued interest in research, teaching, and service. This is a full-time, 11-month appointment with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2026, reporting to the Dean of the CVMBS.
We seek an influential leader with a respected scholarly record and a clear strategic vision to drive the department toward long-term success and excellence. The ideal candidate should have an exemplary record of accomplishments and experience in research, teaching, scholarship, or industry leadership. The ideal candidate will bring vision and leadership to the department and foster a collegial and collaborative environment that supports faculty, staff, and students.
Responsibilities- Serve as the chief administrative officer of the department, leading and managing departmental staff and faculty.
- Provide leadership in promoting the department’s academic excellence and fostering the professional advancement of all faculty, staff, and students.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Committee of the CVMBS to advance the academic excellence of the College and University.
- Oversee academic programs, faculty development, research initiatives, community engagement, and departmental budget administration.
- Earned a doctoral degree (PhD, DVM, or both DVM and PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree) in physiology, pharmacology, toxicology, biological sciences, or a closely related discipline, and demonstrate a strong record of scholarship and leadership commensurate with appointment as a Professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.
- Demonstrate proven management skills in both human and financial resource administration.
- Have a record of excellence in biomedical education, along with a strong record of research, creative work, and/or professional practice and credentials that merit rank at the level of full professor.
- Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration across research, scholarship, and creative endeavors is essential.
- Possess outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and administrative experience is desired.
