Salary: $16.39 per hour (non‑negotiable)
- Provide one‑on‑one admissions and financial‑aid advice to students and families.
- Encourage students to consider a broad range of appropriate college choices.
- Develop a comprehensive college timeline for each student, including Final date to receive applicationss.
- Help students complete and submit admissions, scholarships, and financial aid applications.
- Interpret correspondence from colleges, including offers of admission and financial aid.
- Travel to high schools and other locations to perform advising and program work.
- Organize group events that encourage students and families to plan for and apply to colleges.
- Visit classrooms, assemblies, and club meetings to offer Advise TX services.
- Visit feeder middle schools to encourage early planning for college.
- Work with local community groups and other social‑service providers to host group events.
- Assist other Advise TX advisors within the service area and support program evaluation.
- Attend evening and weekend events organized by other advisors.
- Assist the program manager and evaluation staff in collecting and interpreting key progress data.
- Submit monthly progress reports documenting progress and outcome data.
- Represent Advise TX at requested events.
- Establish productive relationships with principals, counselors, and teachers in assigned high schools.
- Assess each school’s needs with the program manager and adapt programs accordingly.
- Maintain expertise in admissions and financial aid advising.
- Required:
Bachelor’s degree from a Texas institution. - No experience required.
- Experience working with high school students.
- Experience with admissions and/or financial aid.
- Background in general office conditions with significant time spent working with high school students.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Ability to relate well with a high‑school student population.
- Capable of working as a regional/off‑site team member in a dynamic organization.
- Positive attitude and excellent customer‑service orientation.
- Literacy in English with comprehension of written and verbal instructions.
- Detail‑oriented performance with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions with limited direction.
- Self‑directed, initiator, and problem‑solver.
- Can manage multiple tasks urgently in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment.
- Commitment to the success of high‑school students through the college application process.
