Job Title

Police Cadet – Texas A&M University Department of University Police, College Station, Texas.

Salary

Starting hourly rate: $30.11 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Attend a basic police training program conducted by the Texas Engineering Extension Service Law Enforcement Training Division and one week of departmental orientation.
  • Participate in intensive classroom instruction and practical exercises, including operating a university vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Required)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of full‑time employment experience or military service, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Upon employment, complete the basic police academy and pass the Texas State police licensing exam.
  • State of Texas class “C” driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work under stressful conditions and multitask.
  • Pass entrance exam, polygraph, psychological evaluation, physical examination, and a comprehensive background investigation (driving, criminal, and credit history).
Preferred (Optional)
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience in a college or university environment dealing with the public.
  • Previous police or security experience.
