Job Description

Job Title: Bilingual Interventionist, Reading

Reports to: Campus Principal and ELA Coordinator

Dept/Campus: Assigned Campus

Wage Status: Exempt

Pay Grade: Teacher Pay Scale

Days: 187

Primary

Purpose:

Support the CSISD MTSS initiatives to improve student performance in academic subject areas.

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university

Master’s Degree in Education preferred

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Literacy: Demonstrates competency in literacy instruction

Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies in the area of literacy

Knowledge of Response to Intervention instructional strategies

In-depth knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to maintain organized records

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Working knowledge of the State and Federal requirements regarding the assessment of students’ instructional program

Experience:

At least 3 years teaching experience

Essential Job Functions:
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Provide small group support for students needing interventions
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding the needs of students
  • Participate with the Student Intervention Team regarding interventions and resources for students at‑risk
  • Progress monitor students receiving interventions
  • Participate in the planning and presenting of professional development
  • Serve on the Campus Leadership Team
  • Serve as a liaison for regularly scheduled district wide meetings
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills
  • Assist teachers with required assessments
  • Models best instructional practices
  • Provide parent training and family support in academic areas
  • Communicate with parents and teachers regarding student performance
  • Coordinates the acquisition and inventory of materials
  • Prepares and submits reports as required
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities,
  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other administrator that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications for the position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise assigned paraprofessionals

Equipment used: Personal or laptop computer, printer, copier, fax machine, shredder, calculator, telephone, electronic mobile devices, projector, video display monitor
