Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
- Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- TEKS-Aligned Instructional Design: Knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Languages Other Than English (LOTE), with the ability to design lessons around the five program goals:
Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. - Three Modes of Communication Mastery: Demonstrated ability to facilitate student growth in the Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational modes of communication
- Linguistic Proficiency & Cultural Competence: Native or near-native fluency in German with the ability to model accurate grammar, syntax, and regional variations, while integrating authentic cultural materials (festivals, social norms, history) to foster global awareness.
- Differentiated Instruction for Learners: Proficiency in implementing scaffolding and differentiation strategies to meet the diverse needs of students in grades 7-12, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and English Language Learners (ELLs).
