Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Youth Development Coach, Alpha - $150,000/year USD

You have completed difficult challenges. You have operated within genuine standards. You understand the distinction between attempting something and delivering results. If you are ready to apply that discipline in a role that shifts a young person's path, this position is designed for you.

Alpha School deploys AI-powered 1:1 learning, enabling students to complete core academics in roughly two hours per day. The remaining time is dedicated to life skills, passion-driven projects, and meaningful development. At our most demanding campuses, students require more than oversight. They require a credible mentor who can assess the environment, establish expectations, and guide them through resistance, distraction, and uncertainty.

This is not a conventional teaching position. You will not deliver lectures, assign grades, or develop curriculum. You will coach. You will facilitate demanding life-skills workshops. You will leverage data to identify what is blocking a student's progress, then apply pressure with intention and precision until they execute.

If you possess an elite credential and a proven history of elevating others' performance, we are interested in speaking with you. Apply to contribute to a campus culture in which students arrive prepared, develop genuine skills, and surpass ambitious benchmarks.

What You Will Be Doing
  • Conduct 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions that convert student objectives into reliable execution and quantifiable results
  • Leverage analytics and student objectives to identify obstacles and establish ambitious, personalized motivation strategies
  • Facilitate demanding life-skills workshops through authentic storytelling, guided reflection, and practical application, followed by mastery evaluation
  • Direct daily opening sessions that establish culture, uphold high expectations, and prepare students before work begins
  • Build trusted mentor relationships with students and families by maintaining high standards, consistency, and strong judgment
What You Won’t Be Doing
  • Deliver traditional classroom instruction, lectures, or academic tutoring
  • Develop curriculum, prepare lesson plans, or evaluate student assignments
  • Supervise adult staff, oversee campus operations, or assume administrative leadership responsibilities
  • Compromise standards to achieve short-term compliance or superficial progress

This role exists to ensure that students at Alpha's most demanding campuses remain highly motivated and accomplish sustained growth and life-skill mastery through elite, high-standards coaching.

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • At least one clear elite marker (athletics, academics, career achievement, or elite coaching)
  • Experience in people-facing mentoring, coaching, or leadership that measurably raised others' performance
  • Comfort operating in high-accountability environments with clear standards and follow-through
  • Ability to lead engaging, high-rigor group sessions and coach individuals with strong judgment
  • Willingness to work full-time (40 hours/week) in person at Alpha's Austin campus
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.
Nice-to-have Requirements
  • Multiple elite markers with clear evidence of raising standards and outcomes
  • Experience using data and analytics to drive coaching plans and accountability
  • Background in selective firms, competitive startups, or elite athletics programs with intense performance expectations
