Job SummaryThe Adjunct Instructor is responsible for ensuring the success of the teaching and learning process in assigned classrooms, labs, or other instructional environments. The instructor will deliver engaging lessons, evaluate student progress, and maintain academic standards consistent with Hill College’s mission and values.
Minimum Required Education- Associate degree, certification, or a combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Recent (within the last three years) experience as a Medical Coder.
- Teaching experience in higher education within the subject area.
- Medical training (Registered Nurse or Allied Health background).
- Strong background in Medical Coding (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS, CPT)
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Medical Terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks independently or as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and learning management systems (LMS).
- Commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and professional ethics.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate customer service excellence.
- Knowledge of Hill College’s vision, mission, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Initiative for continuous learning and professional development.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction that meets course objectives.
- Clearly communicate course requirements and grading standards to students.
- Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently.
- Engage students through effective discussions and professional expertise.
- Stay current with industry publications and participate in professional organizations as appropriate.
- Assist with curriculum development and review.
- Adhere to approved syllabi and textbook selections.
- Maintain a safe and organized work area, lab, or classroom.
- Submit all required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Uphold Hill College’s standards of integrity, conduct, and academic excellence.
- This is a security‑sensitive position.
- Sedentary work:
Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount frequently to move objects. - Must be able to sit, stand, or perform repetitive motions as required for instructional activities.
