Full-Time Faculty – Cosmetology
Weatherford College is seeking a dedicated and qualified Full‑Time Faculty Member in Cosmetology to join our Wise County Campus. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality instruction that fosters student learning and professional growth in cosmetology. This position also involves student recruitment, advising, mentoring, and curriculum development to ensure academic excellence and program relevance.
Position SummaryThe ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in cosmetology education and a commitment to supporting diverse learners across multiple teaching modalities, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit environments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach assigned cosmetology courses following approved curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Create and maintain an engaging, inclusive, and effective learning environment.
- Advise, mentor, and recruit students both inside and outside the classroom.
- Develop and update course materials, including syllabi, textbooks, and instructional tools.
- Select and maintain appropriate equipment and supplies for instructional use.
- Participate in college committees, professional development activities, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain compliance with all college policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and ethical conduct in all academic and administrative duties.
- Associate’s degree (or completion within one year of hire).
- Cosmetology/Barber Certificate.
- Five (5) years of professional salon experience.
- Cosmetology/Barber License (active and in good standing).
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to teach across diverse modalities: face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit.
- Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline (as per Southern Association of Colleges and Schools—SACS—standards).
- Experience teaching in postsecondary or vocational education settings.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS) and digital teaching tools.
- Ability to design, deliver, and assess effective instruction across various platforms.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, peers, and the public.
- Commitment to fostering a respectful, inclusive, and equitable educational environment.
- Demonstrated professional ethics and adherence to institutional policies.
- This position is security‑sensitive and requires a satisfactory criminal background check.
- Males aged 18–25 must be registered with the Selective Service System to be eligible for employment.
