Duties & Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Aviation Maintenance Technology courses and labs per college workload policy.
  • Facilitate instruction per ACS standards using hands‑on and engaging methods.
  • Develop curriculum, course proposals, assessments, and instructional materials.
  • Maintain accurate student and instructional records.
  • Participate in course scheduling, department/college meetings, and committees.
  • Support student success through advising, tutoring, and career planning.
Colleges & Universities
  • Build and maintain employer partnerships for field experiences and internships.
  • Represent program at job fairs, recruiting events, and special activities.
  • Maintain FAA/ATMAE accreditation compliance.
  • Keep classrooms and labs organized, safe, and professional.
  • Track graduate data to improve program quality.
  • Attend commencements, convocations, training, and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent* (FAA regulations require 18 months of experience in Airframe or Powerplant maintenance, OR 30 months combined experience, to qualify for FAA A&P certification.)
  • Experience: 5 years of related industry experience OR equivalent military experience.
  • Certification: FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license required.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to teach and work with diverse, non‑traditional, and underserved student populations.
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to operate aircraft maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) with Microsoft Office and instructional technology.
  • Effective teamwork and professional relationship skills at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Aviation Maintenance.
  • Experience:
    • 5 years of industry/military aviation maintenance.
    • 3 years teaching in post‑secondary education or military training.
    • 3 years leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge &

    Skills:

    • Leadership ability.
    • Prior curriculum development experience.
    • Student engagement through innovative instructional methods.
