Wage Agency Instructor – Fire Academy (TEEX, Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service, College Station, Texas)
Job DescriptionThe TEEX Fire Academy Instructor is responsible for providing training in various courses for the Recruit Program/Public Sector. Training may be performed online, classroom instruction, field‑based skills training, and/or technical assistance. The instructor utilizes knowledge of adult learning theories and learning styles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of the course instruction.
The course material is presented using a variety of media. The instructor modifies course curriculum when necessary to meet learner needs, maintains a current knowledge base, and prosecutes all safety measures. The instructor is also required to supervise and evaluate student performance and competently discuss procedures, techniques, regulations, and safety.
This position reports to the Agency Training Coordinator.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- Four years of experience in firefighting.
- One year of experience in adult education and/or training.
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license or the ability to obtain it within 30 days of employment.
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certified Firefighter.
- National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1041 Instructor I certified or equivalent.
- Equivalent consideration for a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an associate’s degree plus two years of firefighting experience.
- Must also have one year of adult education and/or training and all required licenses/certifications.
- Flexible work schedule on an as‑needed basis, ideal for supplemental income.
