Early Childhood Teacher III

Overview

The Charlotte Sharp Children’s Center (CSCC) seeks a dedicated Early Childhood Teacher III to create a nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children aged 12 months to 5 years. The teacher will collaborate with teaching teams to design and implement emergent curriculum, support children’s social‑emotional development, evaluate progress, and mentor university students.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of early childhood education experience.
• Pediatric CPR or Pediatric First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment).
• Child Development Associate (CDA) knowledge or certification.

• Knowledge of child growth and development, learning theories, effective learning environments, and appropriate teaching strategies.
• Ability to assess the effectiveness of instructional strategies and learning environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Capability to give, receive, and reflect on constructive feedback; teamwork, collaboration, and leadership.
• Ability to present information clearly and concisely, and to be flexible.

• Provide classroom oversight when a teacher is absent.
• Plan and implement daily curriculum following developmentally appropriate practices and responsive caregiving principles.
• Articulate a philosophy regarding child learning, social‑emotional development, and positive guidance.
• Collaborate with team members to design and execute emergent and project‑based curriculum.
• Observe and document child development, including anecdotal notes, photographs, and videos for assessment purposes.
• Create an inclusive classroom community for children of diverse developmental needs.
• Implement best practices in a model early‑childhood learning environment.
• Establish and follow classroom routine aligned with curriculum.
• Set individual and group learning goals in partnership with families.
• Conduct family conferences and share progress reports twice per year.
• Mentor university students, guiding them in applying theory to practice.
• Supervise indoor and outdoor activities to ensure child safety, directing student employees as needed.
• Assist in conducting research, supporting faculty and students with data collection and documentation.

• Plan, prepare, and implement developmentally appropriate, play‑based, and culturally responsive early learning experiences.
• Resolve conflicts with children or parents efficiently and professionally.
• Provide accommodations for children as needed.
• Maintain meaningful partnerships with families, colleagues, university faculty, staff, and the community.
• Communicate verbally and in writing with families on a daily and weekly basis.

• Follow all policies of CSCC, Texas A&M University, the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, SACS/Cognia, and Texas Rising Star.
• Ensure federal, local, state, and program documentation is complete and accurate.

• Collaborate with university researchers to generate new knowledge in early childhood care and education.
• Coordinate studies within and outside the classroom that support children’s psychological and physical needs.
• Advocate for participating children and abide by campus policies on research implementation.
