The Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning (LAUP) in the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University invites applications for three (3) full-time, 9-month faculty positions beginning Fall 2027. Two positions will be filled at the Tenure-Track Assistant Professor rank, and the second position at any rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full) with the possibility of tenure review upon hire for candidates with appropriate credentials and experience.
Successful candidates will maintain an active program of scholarship, contribute to interdisciplinary research and engagement, and teach core and elective courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to service in the department, college, and university. Successful candidates will also demonstrate the ability to establish or sustain a strong program of scholarship, contribute to excellence in teaching and mentorship, and engage collaboratively with colleagues, students, and communities.
Candidates who can contribute across disciplinary boundaries and collaborate with faculty in landscape architecture, urban planning, land and property development, and related fields are especially encouraged to apply. In particular, we are looking for candidates who are qualified to teach in one or more of the following areas:
- Rural and regional planning and development, including economic development, affordable housing, infrastructure systems, water resources, broadband access, agricultural land preservation,
energy transitions, and regional governance - Geospatial, computational, and advanced digital approaches to understanding, designing, planning, and managing the built and natural environment
- Planning, land use, and real estate law
- Environmental planning, climate adaptation, and hazard resilience
- Landscape construction and site engineering
- Landscape architecture history and theory
We are especially interested in candidates whose research advances knowledge and practice in areas that contribute to our department's strengths in urban regeneration, health and active living, green infrastructure, mobility, community disaster resilience, or other pressing challenges facing communities and regions. We welcome a wide range of research methodologies and encourage applications from scholars who engage underserved, disadvantaged, or vulnerable populations through research, teaching, professional practice, or community partnerships.
Texas A&M University and the College of Architecture are making significant investments in artificial intelligence and the built environment. Candidates whose work advances AI-enabled approaches to planning, design, development, landscape architecture, construction science, or related fields may also consider additional faculty opportunities available within the college.

LAUP comprises 44 full-time faculty members and offers six degree programs: the Bachelor of Landscape Architecture, Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning, Master of Landscape Architecture, Master of Urban Planning, Master of Land and Property Development, and the Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science.
