OverviewThe Department of Music invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Choral Conducting beginningacademic year 2027. Duties include directing one choir and teachingtwo music courses, including but not limited to general musiccourses (e.g., music appreciation, theory), choral methods,conducting, and other courses depending upon the candidate’sinterests and experiences per semester for a total of threecourses, a 9-credit hour load per semester. Two concerts are performed each year, fall and spring.
Other tasks required of thechoral director include preparing the choir to sing at various
College events that may include collaborating with other musicfaculty members, recruitment, attending and grading juries, student advising, and general tasks as needed assigned to faculty members.
Salary: $66,000-$76,000
Education and ExperienceMinimum Qualifications:
- Degree requirements:
Ph.D., D.M.A., DN, or Ed.D. in Choral Conducting - Scholarship requirements: A demonstration of scholarly/creative/artistic work.
- Strong rehearsal and conducting techniques.
- A strong academic background in music required to teach various types of courses in keeping with a liberal arts education
- Experience teaching at institutions of higher education
- Experience teaching music K-12
