Estimating Manager

The Estimating Manager is responsible for conducting, leading and overseeing estimating activities across GCS and GCMI, utilizing detailed layouts of architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical systems to develop accurate and reliable cost estimates for materials and labor. This role provides direction for estimating processes, manages estimating resources, and ensures alignment with company objectives. The Estimating Manager also plays a key role in supporting and training team members, maintaining estimating tools and systems, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP-related processes.

• Lead the development, review, and approval of budgetary and final cost estimates utilizing preliminary and final design drawings, manufacturing specifications, and customer requirements
• Oversee estimating efforts for GCS and GCMI, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with company standards
• Collaborate with internal and external engineering, design, and construction resources to support costing for unique POD design specifications and requirements
• Ensure detailed explanation and documentation of estimates, including man-hour assumptions, labor allocations, and resource requirements
• Provide costing for customer-driven onsite work requests, change orders, and scope additions
• Support Project Managers and Project Engineering with cost analysis for change orders, research, and design initiatives
• Select, track, and analyze key estimating metrics and KPIs, including risk analysis and forecasting to support project and business planning
• Ensure estimating data, assumptions, and historical cost information are accurately maintained and readily accessible

• Directly manage and mentor Junior Estimator(s), including work assignment, training, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development
• Review Junior Estimator(s) work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards
• Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for estimating questions and complex scopes

• Maintain, enhance, and drive the development of G-CON’s proprietary estimate program
• Support and assist with the G-P ERP system, including estimating-related workflows, data accuracy, process alignment, and continuous improvement
• Develop and deliver training for estimators and cross-functional team members on estimating processes, tools, ERP-related tasks, and daily estimating activities
• Maintain organized estimating files, databases, spreadsheets, and systems to ensure up-to-date cost history, quotes, proposals, and industry benchmarks
• Maintain and manage estimating databases containing quotes, proposals, and general costing information
• Develop and Launch Estimating 2.0 for GCS and GCMI

• Ensure understanding of methods, operation sequences, and fabrication processes for parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies
• Assist in the development, review, and enforcement of G-CON Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to estimating and cost control
• Identify opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, efficiency, standardization, and scalability across the organization
• Facilitate moving estimations to ERP (current system and future)
