Under supervision, the Senior Communications Specialist I focuses on internal communications. The position writes and assists in the production of informational and promotional materials, presentations, and special events for the Engineering Research Office (ERO).

• Writes and produces brochures, invitations, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, articles, speeches, reports, and news stories related to ERO activities.
• Proofs, edits, and updates information on the ERO intranet and web presence.
• Maintains a tracking system for project timelines and costs.
• Develops and implements overall communications goals for the ERO office.
• Works with the Engineering Communications team for editing and design, and disseminates news releases to media.
• Assists in promoting special events and programs, generating communication strategies and promotional plans, tactics, and materials.
• Prepares executive correspondence with the Engineering Communications team and prepares complex presentations and displays.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Seven years of related experience.

• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

• Ability to maintain security and integrity of critical infrastructure including communications systems, networks, cybersecurity, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment or water treatment systems.
