Position Overview
Sr. Manager – Facilities Support Operations reports to the Director of Facilities and is responsible for managing daily maintenance operations across multiple facilities. The role ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and cGMPs within a biotechnology facility, coordinating with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and external suppliers to meet departmental milestones and budgets.
Responsibilities- Serve as system owner for the Blue Mountain Regulatory Asset Manager (CCMS/CMMS) across all sites.
- Work with eQMS administrators to configure, improve, and maintain the CCMS/CMMS system.
- Oversee daily maintenance operations, including work order lifecycle, planning and scheduling of maintenance and calibration, and MRO inventory management.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the MRO inventory strategy and associated SOPs.
- Coordinate facility shutdowns and ensure safety, compliance, and minimal disruption.
- Evaluate system data to identify MTBF and recommend improvements using PDMs, RCM, and RCA methodologies.
- Prepare periodic performance reports and user utilization metrics for the CCMS/CMMS.
- Collaborate with departments (Manufacturing, Validation, QA, Metrology, Maintenance, Facilities, QC) to support their CCMS/CMMS needs.
- Plan and schedule calibration and maintenance activities for instrumentation and equipment across sites.
- Balance workloads across Metrology and Maintenance departments.
- Lead and develop the facilities support operations staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating personnel.
- Assist the Director of Facilities in setting strategic directions and objectives for maintenance operations.
- Demonstrate continuous personal development, maintaining a positive professional attitude.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- In-depth knowledge of Blue Mountain RAM implementation and calibration/maintenance procedures.
- Proficient in maintenance tasks such as PM, spare parts, work order lifecycle, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and CMMS usage.
- Experience with cGMP manufacturing calibration, maintenance, and documentation requirements.
- Start‑up and commissioning experience in cGMP facilities.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, and stretching.
- Manual dexterity for operating tools and office equipment.
- Regular lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Use of ladders and stairs.
- Work under wet, humid, and noisy conditions.
- Availability for off‑shift, weekend, and holiday support.
- 24/7 support for company activities and mandatory attendance.
- Bachelor’s degree + minimum 8 years of maintenance/facilities experience in a pharma/biotech environment (preferably FDA regulated). OR Associate’s degree + minimum 10 years. OR High school diploma + minimum 12 years.
- Minimum 5 years of prior leadership experience.
- Knowledge of Blue Mountain CCMS/CMMS.
- Experience with quality management software.
- Understanding of bio‑processing equipment, clean utilities, and single‑use technology.
- Planning or scheduling background.
