Automation Specialist

Overview

Job description for instrumentation, controls and related systems design using 3D and 4D design practices. Assists with specification development, HMI graphics, PLC programming, report development, testing and startup of control systems. Provides direction and mentoring for junior staff; assists in preparation of proposals and presentations under general supervision. Supports marketing and new business activities in support of the Automation strategy. May participate in proposals.

Performs other duties as required.

• Create basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices.
• Assist with specification development and testing oversight.
• Create basic to moderately complex HMI graphics and PLC programming; develop reports.
• Review component-level shop drawings and contractor clarifications; assist with testing and startup of control systems.
• Provide staff leadership, mentoring for junior staff, and review work as necessary.
• Under general supervision, assist in preparation of proposal sections and presentations; support marketing and new business activities for Automation strategy.
• May participate in proposals and perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency contingent on duties, responsibilities and project demands.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, controls and related systems designs.
• PLC and HMI experience required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
• Expert knowledge of 3D and 4D design practices.
