Job Description SummaryThe Construction Supervisor‑MEP is responsible for the quality assurance of mechanical and electrical construction aspects of all capital projects for the Texas A&M University System.
Responsibilities- Assist Project Managers with interpreting contract documents and ensuring mechanical and electrical work conforms to those documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers concerning the start‑up of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Conduct project inspections for proper installation of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Review drawings and specifications for conformity to system construction standards, code requirements, and construction costs and recommend alternate solutions where required.
- Troubleshoot new and existing mechanical and electrical systems.
- Review requests for additional work from architects/engineers, contractors, or using agencies.
- Prepare field reports detailing conditions observed, instructions given, and recommendations for corrective action.
- Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff related to mechanical and electrical construction.
- Approve payments for mechanical and electrical testing services.
- Arrange for utility outages with proper authority.
- Arrange high‑voltage testing and other mechanical and electrical testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven years of mechanical or electrical construction experience.
- Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and maintain effective relationships with project architects/engineers and contractors.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
- Master Electrician or equivalent mechanical licensing preferred.
