Financial Accountant II
Job Description SummaryThe Financial Accountant II, under general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Accounting Services Supervisor, manages the full range of accounts receivable activity for four TVMDL laboratory locations.
Responsibilities- Accounts Receivable
- Manage all business activities related to billing and collection of TVMDL fee income.
- Process payments from checks, ACH, and credit card payments; post them daily in the TVMDL Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Ensure accuracy of all postings.
- Prepare payments for entry into the TAMU financial system (FAMIS) and deposit them in agency bank accounts; coordinate daily deposits per TAMU policy.
- Serve as the primary contact for TVMDL clientele on billing questions, resolve billing errors, and assist with past‑due collections.
- Maintain daily communication with clients and with Texas A&M Agri Life Fiscal Office regarding cash management issues.
- Supervise and assist with month‑end closing in the LIMS, generating all reports and overseeing final monthly invoices.
- Review and audit client account reconciliations; prepare monthly and annual financial reports for management.
- Collaborate with other laboratory locations and Client Services to maintain excellent customer service.
- Other Duties
- Serve as backup for the CFO and Accounting Services Supervisor for select duties.
- Provide support and accommodate requests as needed.
- Assist on routine fiscal activities of the agency.
- Propose solutions to financial problems; coordinate maintenance of business files.
- Develop summary reports on TVMDL fee revenue for CFO; prepare business‑related correspondence.
- Develop, monitor, and report on budget projections relating to fee income; assist in drafting new fiscal‑year plans.
- Assist in planning and developing operational and financial procedures and processes.
- Develop methods to improve efficiency and maintain internal control; ensure progress on assigned projects.
- SOPs, Procedures, Forms, and Documentation
- Create and modify Standard Operating Procedures for the Finance Office as directed by the CFO and Accounting Services Supervisor.
- Fiscal Management
- Assist with management of financial transactions, including assigning costs to appropriate accounts.
- Plan, coordinate, and evaluate policies, procedures, and guidelines; make recommendations to the CFO and Accounting Services Supervisor.
- Work with the CFO and Accounting Services Supervisor on annual fiscal year‑end closing activities for the agency.
- Quality Assurance & Safety
- Participate actively in quality assurance and safety programs, cross‑training, and skill development as applicable.
- Additional Duties

- Required
Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Required Experience:
Two years of related experience. - Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Preferred Education:
Two years of business office experience. - Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with Texas A&M University System applications, operations, and policies including FAMIS/Canopy, Aggie Buy, Concur/Emburlse, Origami, and Laserfiche. - Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Required Attire:
Closed‑toed shoes and long pants in the laboratory environment. - All positions are security‑sensitive; applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation.
