Patient Services Specialist - Physical Therapy

The Patient Services Specialist, under direct supervision, provides administrative support in a physician office or clinic to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care. Duties include patient relations, check‑in and check‑out, scheduling, insurance verification, answering calls, and collecting payments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patient registration by collecting and verifying insurance information and entering changes into the computer system.
  • Direct patients to the appropriate waiting areas.
  • Accept and record payments for physician/clinic services according to established guidelines.
  • Post payments and enter charges into the computer system; generate daily payment reports and verify the cash drawer.
  • Provide accurate patient, medical, financial, or procedural information to patients or approved outside entities.
  • Discuss financial arrangements with patients when required.
  • Receive and direct phone calls; assist patients and other visitors.
  • Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operation, etc.
  • Handle patient complaints appropriately.
  • Assist with medical records duties as requested.
  • Arrange follow‑up visits and referral appointments.
