We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team! The Weight Loss Medical Assistant supports the provider in delivering safe, efficient, and high-quality care to patients enrolled in the clinic’s medical weight loss program. This role focuses on patient intake, telehealth support, injection preparation and administration, documentation accuracy, and patient education. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable discussing weight management in a supportive and encouraging manner.
Responsibilities- Obtain and document accurate weight, height, BMI, blood pressure, and vital signs
- Perform weight check-ins for in-office and telehealth patients
- Verify and update medication list, allergies, and medical history
- Document all patient encounters clearly in the EMR
- Enter provider‑directed orders, labs, and follow‑up instructions
- Ensure consent forms are completed and scanned into the chart
- Maintain accurate documentation for billing and compliance
- Prepare injectable medications including GLP‑1 medications, Lipo‑C, B12, or other clinic‑approved therapies
- Reconstitute medication per clinic protocol when applicable
- Label syringes accurately with medication name and dose
- Verify correct patient, medication, dose, and route prior to administration
- Administer subcutaneous or intramuscular injections as ordered
- Educate patients on proper self‑injection techniques when applicable
- Monitor patients post‑injection for adverse reactions
- Document the medication lot number, expiration date, dose, and site of administration
- Maintain inventory of weight loss medications and injection supplies
- Monitor expiration dates and report low stock
- Follow proper storage protocols for refrigerated medications
- Ensure proper sharps disposal and safety compliance
- BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable with injections
- Biligual
