Job Description

The Digital Media Coordinator position is designed to meet the needs of a unit where multifaceted expertise is required. This role supports the technological and digital media needs of the Center, primarily for the Turbo machinery & Pump Symposia and the Asia Turbo machinery & Pump Symposium.

Purpose

The position supports the Center’s digital media and event technology needs.

Responsibilities
  • Complete website updates and performance monitoring for the Turbo Lab’s three sites. Ensure compliance, accessibility, and maintenance. Provide primary technical support for website function, publication, and availability. Assist and consult with the Senior Program Manager & Turbo Lab Communications Department to create pages as needed and maximize the function and capability of Turbo Lab sites.
  • Consult with the Senior Program Manager on details, methods, and lead distribution of symposium proceedings. Maximize distribution to exclusive groups prior to and during the show site. Lead search for, secure, and program dependable distribution methods.
  • Primary contact to TAMU Library Services for loading proceedings with Oaktrust. Lead formatting and transfer of data, ensuring public availability within Turbo Lab guidelines, and maintain the proceedings repository.
  • Lead the build and optimization of Turbo Lab’s registration & program submission software. Oversee contracting, editing, troubleshooting, and technical support for the event platform Aventri. Provide technical support and assistance with look and feel, and advise on improvements.
  • Assist and consult with Turbo Lab Communications and the Senior Program Manager on building and testing a mobile app for symposia. Publish, monitor, and improve future events. Serve as primary contact for user process and show‑site technical support.
  • Provide on‑site registration and technological support at the annual Turbo machinery & Pump Symposia in Houston. Manage vendor relations and contracting for badge printing services in coordination with Turbo Lab staff. Ensure badge printing setup and correct printing of badge information according to guidelines.
  • Perform duties related to the Center’s activities beyond the main symposia throughout the calendar year.
  • Primary Turbo Lab Staff contact for IT compliance. Execute and support IT tickets, monitor shared email addresses, consult on equipment improvements, and maintain inventory records with the Senior Program Manager and Lab Manager.
What we need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
What is helpful
  • Experience in website design, software systems operation/optimization, and programming.
Preferred Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in fields such as management information systems, software optimization, coding, website design/maintenance, data analysis, etc.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience managing sites on Word Press and handling technical tasks, including learning new software.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Technologically savvy with event software optimization, troubleshooting, and training colleagues.
  • Willingness to learn and master different software/systems in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. Capable of software training, coding, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, graphic skills, mobile apps, repository maintenance, website accessibility, Microsoft or other TAMU systems, and communication systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and operate applicable computing equipment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills for interaction at all university levels and with industry contacts abroad.
About the Turbo machinery Laboratory

The Turbo machinery Laboratory (Turbo Lab) conducts research in Rotor dynamics and Mechanical Systems;
Thermal Fluids and Combustion; and Computational and Modeling Design. The lab’s Turbo machinery and Pump Symposia (TPS) are held annually in Houston, Texas, and the Asia Turbo machinery and Pump Symposium (ATPS) biennially in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
